Ritalin needing, hyper- active
Media-based society
Getting mad, can’t stand
This set-up and
The fire
We….
Cast ourselves into
On a consistent basis
It’s like we’re casing
Our own homes when we
Disown our ability
To absorb information
Some of us are disgracin’
Our ancestors
Who worked hard so we could read
People check the Internet and their blackberries
Like its air they need to breathe

It’s said if you want to keep
A person ignorant
Contain your information in a book
People don’t want to read
All they want to do is just look
Cat’s have shook nations
Through literary devices
Imagery, synecdoche personified in writing

You see this generation
Wants to see pictures and be entertained
Impressing the images from videos,
Internet and porn
Until it’s stuck in their brains
Retained the information
But can’t soak up academic courses
People running around confused
Can’t seem to make the right choices

Try to get people to read
So you place your information on the net
Post a couple pictures and videos
Just to get their palettes whet


Could you take a second
And leverage your intellect?
With reading something that’s
More than gossip or things that dilute
Consciousness?
Cause in the moment
You’re growing

And what you watch or read is how you’ll connect
And if it’s shallow and simple
That’s exactly what you’ll reflect
